# Recital (79)

> This recital applies to all providers of high-risk AI systems placing products on the EU market, including those established outside the Union who must appoint an authorized representative.

## Introduction

A specific natural or legal person, defined as the provider, should assume responsibility for the placing on the market or putting into service of a high-risk AI system.

## Content

It is appropriate that a specific natural or legal person, defined as the provider, takes responsibility for the placing on the market or the putting into service of a high-risk AI system, regardless of whether that natural or legal person is the person who designed or developed the system.
